ecost - Making a camcorder purchase

I was helping an uncle to did not have a computer and who had speech impediment make a purchase at ecost online. It took one whole day of aggravation when making the purchase because they wanted to verify his phone number. It took a lot of back and fort emails and phone calls. First, Ecost sends an email to call them to verify the phone number associated with my uncle's credit card. So I called them and gave them phone number. Then, two hours later,I received another email from them, saying we need to call them back again. I called them and I was on hold for a long time to get customer service. When I got a hold of them,I felt like I was being interrogated by FBI. It took minutes to verify personal information and our order. But they still were not satisfied so they had to transfer my call to the credit department for further investigation. Note that the purchase was only $200. On this call I put my uncle on three way with ecost. Then ecost had to call the creditcard (bank) and put us all on conference call just to verify a telephone number. They were trying to talk to my uncle but they couldn't really understand him because he has cleft palate. This is why I am placing the order and the call for my uncle because I was helping him. Note that ecost already DEDUCTED the $200 from the credit card while they were verifying his telephone number. If this was to prevent fraud, why did they already deduct the $200 purchase? So after all the conference call and wasted time, they said they will process the purchase. We don't know the next scenario ecost will put us through. Can you imagine all these for a small purchase? Ecost was acting as a police even when it was not necessary. I was helping an uncle who didn't have a computer and had speech impediment buy something online and in return we get harassed by ecost. I hate ecost. They make us feel criminals for making a purchase.
